Established since 2002, The «Coalition des femmes de l’Alberta» is a non-profit organization recognized as the only organization dedicated to the cause of Francophone women across the province of Alberta.
It was created following a need for regrouping and recognition of Francophone women in the province, in order to develop and manage a program of activities for women. Its rapprochement with the «Alliance des femmes francophones du Canada» has made it possible to harmonize the Coalition’s actions with the main issues of FNFCF (National Federation of French Canadian Women), to expand the interaction and networking of Francophone women in Canada and elsewhere. The Coalition is active in the research and development of community partnerships for the advancement of its actions. She intervenes in various sectors of strategic importance, undertakes and develops various projects and activities in line with her mandate and vision. These projects target Francophone communities, urban and rural, across the province of Alberta. The Coalition’s offer of social activities to French-speaking women is evolving in various formats such as networking, workshops, training, forums, mentoring, conferences and round tables around different themes (domestic violence, leadership, well-being and mental health, governance…).
In addition, there are artistic activities such as crafts, cultural workshops, outdoor activities and sports activities (gymnastics, relaxation). This offer helps to develop networks where people can express themselves in French. It also aims to promote Francophone culture as well as bilingualism in a linguistic minority environment. The activities and events organized by the Coalition constitute a gathering place for the Francophone community.
